Rafting Trip 2026: Year 8 Experience

After a year, our Academy students once again embarked on a journey along the waters of the Small Danube, travelling from Nová Dedinka to Potônske Lúky. Accompanied by beautiful sunny weather, a great crew, and an even better mood, we set sail on Wednesday, June 19, and reached our final destination the following day.

For some of the more experienced students, this trip also became a rowing competition. However, as we all learned on the second day, not everything is about speed. After lunch in Jelka on Thursday, we joined boats with Mr Thomas’s group, bringing the Year 8 classmates back together. We sat in the boats, swam in the river (although us taller people mostly just walked through it), talked, laughed, and had fun. We also rowed quite hard after Mr Raphael informed us that we were the last two boats still on the river and that the goulash stew would soon be served. In the end, we made it just in time.

Overall, this was a great trip and a valuable lesson as well: in a boat, everyone has to contribute and work together, otherwise, we would stay in one place. We are looking forward to seeing everyone back on the water again next year!
