The Earth Day

Earth Day is an annual global event, observed on April 22, that celebrates the environmental movement and raises awareness about pollution and ways to maintain a clean habitat. The year 2021 marks the 51st anniversary of the annual celebrations. This year’s theme for Earth Day is ‘Restore Our Earth‘. In 2009, the United Nations designated April 22 as ‘International Mother Earth Day’.

  • Earth day recycling (focus on paper, plastic, e-waste and food)
  • Energy efficiency in the workplace.
  • New technology and its role in more efficient recycling.
  • Climate change and its impact on business.
  • Switching to eco-friendly cleaning materials.
  • Carpool or bike-to-work programs.

Almost everybody celebrates the Earth Day. Let’s go on the Earth Day World Tour!

In Tokyo people celebrate the Earth Day with a big festival and parade in the streets. People come from all over Japan to celebrate Earth and learn ways to go green. Going green means making changes to be kinder to the environment.

In South Africa, they call Earth Day, Mother Earth Day. In Hungary, people ride bicycles. In Madagascar, they have a big carnival on Earth Day and in the USA they plant trees.

Children in the Environmental Club spoke about the ways people celebrate Earth Day around the world. They learned about the ways they can help the Earth and put their ideas in wonderful 3D posters. They look amazing!

The Earth day theme was also used during In the Intensive English Program lesson. The student watched an educational video quiz, worked with its questions, audio comprehension, and sentence building.
