A Theatre Adventure: Šťastie rastie na streche (Happiness Grows on the Roof)
Sometimes, a single theatre performance is enough to remind us that happiness can often be found in the little things in life. That is why we went on a cultural trip with our pupils to the Pavol Országh Hviezdoslav Theatre in Bratislava, where we watched the puppet theatre performance Happiness Grows on the Roof (Šťastie rastie na streche)
We enjoyed a funny and imaginative story full of humour, fantasy and interesting characters. We met Katka Veselá, whose name means “Happy Katka”, but who somehow struggles to find happiness. She believes in superstitions, avoids black cats and looks for four-leaf clovers that might bring her good luck. Her journey towards a happier life is full of funny situations and unexpected surprises. And when a talking horse with some good advice joins the story, the fun really begins!
The children had the opportunity to discover the magical world of puppet theatre, where characters and stories come to life through acting, movement and imagination. The performance captured their attention and also encouraged them to think about what happiness really means to us.
As a teacher, I believe that experiences like this are an important part of education. Children learn not only in the classroom but also through experiences that create emotions, inspire questions and offer new ideas. Theatre helps develop their imagination, appreciation of the arts and ability to understand a story and share its emotions with others.
We left the theatre with wonderful memories and perhaps a little reminder that we do not always have to search everywhere for happiness. Sometimes, we find it in moments spent together, in a smile, in friendship or in the simple joy of being together.
Thank you for this lovely theatrical experience! We are already looking forward to discovering more of the wonderful world of art and imagination together.
After all, happiness can grow wherever we give it space.
