International Women’s Day

The International Women’s Day is celebrated on 8th March every year. This day is celebrated in the honor of the remarkable contribution of women to our society. International Women’s Day aims to highlight the women rights and gender balance around the world. This day shows the rights of women and the importance of women in the world. Women plays an important role in our society. Purple is the color of International Women’s Day, and combined with green it represents the feminist movement. This day ensures equal opportunities to the women in the field of education, business, politics, media etc. The International Women’s Day celebration initiative was started by the United States as National Women’s Day in the year 1909.

During the Intensive English lessons the students focused on this topic through story comprehension, quizzes, writing acrostic poems and other activities. They learned about many famous women from the history who are well recognized until now such as Marie Curie, Florence Nightingale, Amelia Earhart, Rosa Parks, Jane Austen, Helen Sharman or Maggie Pocock.
