When Learning is Unlimited: 16-Year-Old EISB Student Enters Medical School
At EISB, we believe that learning has no limits — and neither does opportunity. While our graduates typically graduate at the end of Year 13, this year marks an extraordinary exception that reminds us what’s possible when passion meets purpose.
At just sixteen years old, Mykhailo, an EISB Year 11 student, successfully completed his Ukrainian state final examinations earning him a Certificate of Completion of Secondary School. He has already applied and passed entrance exams and is now studying at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Prague — a difficult path for students much older than him.
Mykhailo is a quiet, thoughtful student — calm, respectful, and deeply reflective. He rarely seeks the spotlight, yet his curiosity and determination shine brightly. He often stays after class to talk, share his drawings, or discuss ideas and dreams. His creativity and kindness have made him a valued and inspiring member of our school community.
Coming from a family of doctors, Mykhailo’s passion for medicine began at an early age. He often speaks proudly
of his grandfather, a head physician, who first introduced him to the world of anatomy and medical science. From leafing through detailed anatomical atlases as a child to observing real-life surgeries this past summer, Mykhailo has been steadily nurturing a vision of his future.
Reflecting on his experience in the operating room, he shared:
“I really enjoyed being there, feeling responsible for human life and being proud of the professionalism of my grandfather and other doctors. I definitely realized that I want to study further and become a professional surgeon.”
EISB celebrates Mykhailo’s achievement not only as a testament to his intelligence and hard work, but as proof that education is not about age — it’s about readiness, curiosity, and the courage to follow one’s passion when opportunities arise. His story embodies our philosophy that when students are enabled, amazing things happen.
Congratulations, Mykhailo — your journey reminds us all that learning knows no bounds
