Improving your Child’s English during the Summer

Spread the love

Hi everyone,

I met and spoke with so many parents, both already in the school community and prospective ones, over the past couple of months. One of the main topics which kept coming up, as it tends to do every year, is how to improve my child’s English so that they can be better prepared in the Autumn for the new school year.

Here are some tips:

1. As pictured above, read, read, read. There are wonderful books and online reading materials for all ages and levels. Don’t think that since your child is not yet a master reader that this is not an option for you.

2. Online apps such as Duolingo. Much has been said about this, but it’s still very useful. Its gamified approach works well for many people, both children and adults.

3. Watch TV programmes in English whenever possible. You can even find the World Cup in English. 🙂

4. Speak with your children in English. Your English doesn’t have to be perfect. You can view it as a learning experience for both of you!

5. Summer English camps are always a good choice if it is a possibility for you.

Happy Englishing during the summer!
