πββοΈ PE Fun with Year 2 β Dodgeball Day!
This week in PE, our Year 2 students took on one of their new favorite games βΒ dodgeballΒ with soft ballsΒ (donβt worryβ¦ no dramatic movie-style dodging hereΒ
).
Using soft, safe balls, the children practiced throwing, catching, and β of course β a bit of βstrategic escapingβ! The focus wasnβt just on the game, but on building important physical and social skills in a fun, active way.

Β What did the children learn?
While it looked like pure fun (and it was!), the students were developing:
- Coordination and movement skillsΒ β throwing, catching, and dodging
- TeamworkΒ β supporting each other and playing fairly
- Listening skillsΒ β following instructions and game rules
- ConfidenceΒ β having a go, even if it felt a bit tricky at first
And yes⦠also how to dodge like little ninjas ![]()
Β Why PE participation matters
Taking part in PE is so important at this age. It helps children:
- BuildΒ healthy habitsΒ early in life
- ImproveΒ focus and behaviorΒ in the classroom
- LearnΒ resilienceΒ (itβs okay to get βoutβ β we try again!)
- DevelopΒ social skillsΒ through play and teamwork
Most importantly β it teaches them that being active isΒ fun, not a chore.
We always encourage every child to join in, try their best, and most of all⦠enjoy moving!
