πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ PE Fun with Year 2 – Dodgeball Day!

Spread the love

This week in PE, our Year 2 students took on one of their new favorite games β€”Β dodgeballΒ with soft ballsΒ (don’t worry… no dramatic movie-style dodging hereΒ πŸ˜„).

Using soft, safe balls, the children practiced throwing, catching, and β€” of course β€” a bit of β€œstrategic escaping”! The focus wasn’t just on the game, but on building important physical and social skills in a fun, active way.

πŸ’‘Β What did the children learn?

While it looked like pure fun (and it was!), the students were developing:

  • Coordination and movement skills – throwing, catching, and dodging
  • Teamwork – supporting each other and playing fairly
  • Listening skills – following instructions and game rules
  • Confidence – having a go, even if it felt a bit tricky at first

And yes… also how to dodge like little ninjasΒ πŸ₯·

🀝 Why PE participation matters

Taking part in PE is so important at this age. It helps children:

  • BuildΒ healthy habitsΒ early in life
  • ImproveΒ focus and behaviorΒ in the classroom
  • LearnΒ resilienceΒ (it’s okay to get β€œout” β€” we try again!)
  • DevelopΒ social skillsΒ through play and teamwork

Most importantly β€” it teaches them that being active isΒ fun, not a chore.

We always encourage every child to join in, try their best, and most ofΒ all… enjoy moving!
