Designing costumes and habitats: Insects

In group two was Elsa and Ela who chose to design insect costumes. Ela picked out some delicate black material for the body of her butterfly with cardboard for wings. Elsa picked out some red and black fabric and both girls made antenna’s from headbands and pipe cleaners. In math’s we had been learning about symmetry, information which they utilized while making their wings. They discovered that symmetry within nature is very common and they enjoyed the challenge of making both of their wings symmetrical.

They decided to create a meadow habitat for their insects which included plenty of green grass and beautiful flowers. They also wrote out questions to engage all the onlookers at the exhibition day. Great job girls!
