First Aid Training for Parents at EISB
At EISB, we firmly believe in the importance of being prepared for any eventuality, especially when it comes to the safety and well-being of our community. That’s why we are pleased to share with you the successful first aid training aimed at the community of our institution, an initiative designed to empower our families with the knowledge and skills necessary to act effectively in emergency situations.
This workshop, conducted by The Slovak Red Cross (Slovenský Červený kríž), covered a series of crucial topics, starting with how to react in potentially dangerous situations. Experts emphasized the importance of staying calm and following clear and precise steps to ensure the safety of all involved.
One of the first lessons focused on identifying local and international emergency numbers. Knowing whom to call and what information to provide can make a difference in critical moments. Parents not only learned the essential phone numbers but also how to communicate effectively with emergency services.
Moreover, the course covered basic concepts of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for adults and infants, a vital skill we all hope never to have to use, but which is indispensable to know. Participants practiced CPR techniques on mannequins, ensuring that everyone felt confident in performing the necessary chest compressions and rescue breaths to save lives.
Another highlight of the training was the demonstration of how to install and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). This device can be intimidating for those unfamiliar with it, but parents learned that its use is simpler than it seems and can be decisive in the event of cardiac arrest.
Finally, they were taught how to act in situations of choking in adults and children, including the Heimlich maneuver and the appropriate procedures for babies. These practical skills are essential, aschoking accidents are common and require a quick and effective response.
From EISB, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the attending parents and The Slovak Red Cross for their commitment to making our community a safer place. This collaborative effort not only enriches our knowledge and preparedness but also strengthens the bonds within our school community, ensuring that we can all look out for each other’s well-being with confidence and competence.
