Head of Primary’s Thoughts #2 – Parent – Teacher Communication about Absences

Hi again everyone!

There have been questions about the proper way to communicate absences of children to the teachers and school. Here is what should happen:

Please let the teacher know as soon as possible when you know children will be absent via Edupage. The more advance notice the teacher has, the better for everyone involved. The teacher will then respond, also via Edupage, confirming the absence, and also noting if the absence is excused or unexcused.

Please be certain that you are notifying about an absence, rather than just sending a message. This makes it easier for everyone in Edupage.

Also, if your child has a medical or other appointment, please let the teacher know the approximate time of arrival or departure from the school.

If you have any general questions about this, please let me know in the responses.

Thanks!
