Berlin Through the Eyes of Our Students – A German Vlog Project

From May 19th to 22nd, students from EISB studying German in Years 7, 9, 10, and 11 took part in an exciting trip to Berlin, Germany. Of course, for the students it was a trip—an opportunity to enjoy an engaging and varied program while collecting new experiences. But we also wanted it to serve an educational purpose: to give them the chance to actively use the German language in a real-life setting.

To bring both goals together, we asked students to document their journey through Berlin each day and create a final project in the form of a vlog. These vlogs featured videos and photos from the trip, along with commentary in German. Students worked in pairs or small groups and were given plenty of creative freedom in how they chose to express themselves.

They embraced the task enthusiastically, capturing their experiences in fun and engaging ways. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to express their creativity, use German in everyday situations, and turn language learning into something practical and memorable.

The goal wasn’t just to create a school project—it was about making a lasting memory. Something they can look back on in the years to come and say: That was our Berlin trip.

As they say, seeing is believing—so instead of just telling you about the trip, take a look for yourself! Check out the vlog created by our Year 9 students Adam Hvoždara, Richard Mihálik, and Alex Szász. They did a fantastic job capturing the spirit of our Berlin adventure.
