THE GARDENING CLUB TURNING INTO COMMUNITY GARDEN
Dear EISB community,
We are very happy to say that the School Garden is a proud and active part of our school property. For the last two years, it was under care of the Gardening Club and this year it is turning into a Community Garden.
Currently, we have 6 Raised Garden Beds. A class can still sign up for one if there are any available left and take care of it as if it is their own. In May and June a sweet reward is waiting for the gardeners – strawberries. ?
The Gardening Club has completed many successful projects for the last two years. During warm months, we were planting seeds, watering them, cleaning the weed, harvesting and preparing garden for cold months. Cold months were to take care of indoor plants and working on several other projects.
I would like to thank everybody who helped to make School Garden happen and especially to every member of the Gardening Club for their dedication and hard work. It wasn’t always that simple as it might look like. Their efforts and research skills helped our school look nicer and greener.
Together, we created the Green Wall that brought many smiles on your faces. This is still an active project because it requires a lot of care and from now on, it is a part of the “SERVICE and ACTION” activity for our academy students under minimal supervision.
I believe showing students how to take care of the nature and how we benefit from it is a step forward to a better future and definitely a greener one. Living more sustainable and nature friendly is our social responsibility.
Best wishes
Ms. Mária Filazi Hurajová
