PHE Year-in-Review: Ultimate Frisbee Y11

Spread the love

Here at EISB, Physical Health and Education is an important part of our students’ personal development. One of my goals as the PHE Teacher/Coordinator is to introduce our students to a variety of different sports. In this end of the year series, we take a look back at some of the different activities various classes have experienced over the 2025-26 school year.

By far the favorite sport of Y11 this year was Ultimate Frisbee. As usual, we began playing outside on the nearby Slovan Field. However, due to a rainy Friday morning in April, we ended up in the gym and found that with a few minor rule adjustments, playing inside was even more fun than on the field.

For one thing, wind is not a factor and doesn’t influence the trajectory of the frisbee, thus making the game a bit easier and more accessible to everybody. The students also enjoyed trying to catch the frisbee after it bounced off the walls, which we deemed legal for our indoor version of the sport. Additionally, playing in the gym meant we could keep track of time and score on the scoreboard and listen to some music during play.

All-in-all, it proved to be the favorite activity of Y11 this year and we continued going to the gym to play for several weeks even when the weather improved.
