Primary fašiangy 2026

On Friday, 6th February, we celebrated Carnival (Fašiangy) at our school for Primary students. As the Slovak teacher, I had the pleasure of organizing this event and bringing a bit of traditional Slovak culture and fun to the children.

The event took place in the afternoon in the school canteen and was enriched by our wonderful guests – the volunteer organizations Inex and Prešporkovo, who prepared various activities and games for the children. Students enjoyed colorful costumes, traditional Carnival customs, and different fun activities that brought them lots of joy.

Carnival (Fašiangy) is a traditional Slovak celebration before the start of Lent. People wear masks, have fun, dance, sing, and enjoy delicious food. It is a time of joy and celebration before the period of fasting begins.

The Carnival at school was not only an opportunity for fun but also for learning about Slovak traditions and culture, which is very important for our young students. The whole afternoon was full of laughter, music, and sweet treats, and we believe the children enjoyed it as much as we, the teachers, did.
