Alexandra /Noc Vedy 2024
The CAS service is my favorite part of the whole CAS, and it means for me the opportunity to help others without getting anything in return, that is, apart from a good feeling. It is when I help those around me, be it people or animals. Some of my most recent CAS service experiences included helping out at a festival called Noc Vedy 2024 where I was part of the volunteer team. It was the biggest science and educational festival in Slovakia and I am very glad that I could be a direct part of it. It worked so that I signed up as a volunteer and attended a meeting where we have been given introductory instructions on how should the event look and how it should run and all the possible information that we would need to know about the festival itself. Later, we were divided into groups according to our preferences or, in short, what would interest or amuse us the most. My job was in the medicine stalls mostly as I would like to pursue a job of a doctor in the future, despite the help which I was providing, I also worked with microscopes where I looked at various tissues and analyzed their individual structures. My other job was walking around the entire festival and various stalls and asking people questions in the form about how they liked the festival, whether they were satisfied, what interested them the most, etc. It was an incredible experience for me, during which I also learned many interesting scientific things, and I am glad that as a volunteer I could help the smooth running of the event.
