My Favourite Holiday – A Poster Project by Year 7

A travel reflection by Janko Nosko, Year 7 student at EISB

As we enjoy the summer holidays – a time for rest, travel, and new experiences – I’d like to take a moment to look back at some of the wonderful work our students did before the end of the school year.

In our German class, we focused on learning the past tense. I truly enjoy teaching this grammar because once students master it, they can talk in a foreign language about their most beautiful memories and adventures they experienced – and that is such a personal and meaningful way to use what they have learned.

What’s your favourite holiday memory? 🙂

One lovely example comes from Janko Nosko. He wrote about his favourite holiday and created a beautiful poster in German. Below, I’m sharing the English translation of his text, followed by the original German version.

Enjoy reading, and happy holidays!

My holiday in the Seychelles was amazing. The beaches were beautiful. The sand was white and soft. The water was turquoise blue and very clear. I swam in the sea and saw the fish.
It was my first time snorkeling. The colorful corals and fish fascinated me.
The food was different from home but very delicious. We ate fresh, tropical fruit.
The people were very nice and friendly. I even learned a few words in Creole.
Every day was an adventure. I saw large turtles. I hiked through the jungle and watched exotic birds. The birds were not afraid of people.
The nature was stunning. It was very quiet and relaxing.
I give this trip 10 out of 10 points. It was one of the most beautiful trips I have ever taken. I hope I can travel there again someday.
