Teacher Focus: Katrina Bartkova

Katarina Bartkova:  Year 1 Teacher.

Ms. Katka is EISB’s Year 1 teacher and joins us with roughly 20 years of teaching experience (the majority at international schools in Bratislava).  She is a Slovak native and hailing from Kezmarok, a beautiful medieval town in the High Tatras.

She earned her Masters in Pedagogy of Slovak and English from the University of Zilina.   Ms. Katka started her teaching career, teaching English as a foreign language at primary and grammar schools in Slovakia, then to transitioned to teaching English for beginners at various languages schools.

Ms. Katka has a joy and passion for teaching, but enjoys the challenges of teaching at an international school verse teaching EFL and/or ESL.  Teaching at an international schools involves frequently adjusting your teaching style, a wider/varied teaching curriculum, as well as effective classroom management.  This gives teachers the freedom to utilise a variety of fun education resources to educate our students and improve their English language skills at the same time.

Ms. Katka second passion is the Theatre.    During the summer months, she runs an amateur theatre group back in her hometown.  She loves sharing her love of drama with the children of EISB.  When Ms. Katka isn’t teaching or in the theatre, she spends her time travelling and learning languages.  In addition to speaking Slovak and English fluently, she also is fluent in French, as well as speaking conversational Russian and German!   Ms. Katka is a great addition our primary teaching family.
