🏃♂️ PE Fun with Year 2 – Dodgeball Day!
This week in PE, our Year 2 students took on one of their new favorite games — dodgeball with soft balls (don’t worry… no dramatic movie-style dodging here
).
Using soft, safe balls, the children practiced throwing, catching, and — of course — a bit of “strategic escaping”! The focus wasn’t just on the game, but on building important physical and social skills in a fun, active way.

What did the children learn?
While it looked like pure fun (and it was!), the students were developing:
- Coordination and movement skills – throwing, catching, and dodging
- Teamwork – supporting each other and playing fairly
- Listening skills – following instructions and game rules
- Confidence – having a go, even if it felt a bit tricky at first
And yes… also how to dodge like little ninjas ![]()
Why PE participation matters
Taking part in PE is so important at this age. It helps children:
- Build healthy habits early in life
- Improve focus and behavior in the classroom
- Learn resilience (it’s okay to get “out” — we try again!)
- Develop social skills through play and teamwork
Most importantly — it teaches them that being active is fun, not a chore.
We always encourage every child to join in, try their best, and most of all… enjoy moving!
