๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ PE Fun with Year 2 โ€“ Dodgeball Day!

Spread the love

This week in PE, our Year 2 students took on one of their new favorite games โ€”ย dodgeballย with soft ballsย (donโ€™t worryโ€ฆ no dramatic movie-style dodging hereย ๐Ÿ˜„).

Using soft, safe balls, the children practiced throwing, catching, and โ€” of course โ€” a bit of โ€œstrategic escapingโ€! The focus wasnโ€™t just on the game, but on building important physical and social skills in a fun, active way.

๐Ÿ’กย What did the children learn?

While it looked like pure fun (and it was!), the students were developing:

  • Coordination and movement skillsย โ€“ throwing, catching, and dodging
  • Teamworkย โ€“ supporting each other and playing fairly
  • Listening skillsย โ€“ following instructions and game rules
  • Confidenceย โ€“ having a go, even if it felt a bit tricky at first

And yesโ€ฆ also how to dodge like little ninjasย ๐Ÿฅท

๐Ÿคย Why PE participation matters

Taking part in PE is so important at this age. It helps children:

  • Buildย healthy habitsย early in life
  • Improveย focus and behaviorย in the classroom
  • Learnย resilienceย (itโ€™s okay to get โ€œoutโ€ โ€” we try again!)
  • Developย social skillsย through play and teamwork

Most importantly โ€” it teaches them that being active isย fun, not a chore.

We always encourage every child to join in, try their best, and most ofย allโ€ฆ enjoy moving!
