Dilemma
Hello everyone.
My name is Gular Sofi-zada and I am from Azerbaijan. I am very excited to become part of the EISB family. I mainly teach English Language Literature and Individuals & Societies in Middle School, along with some classes in High School.
I committed myself to getting to know my students better throughout the first week of the school. For all the year groups I teach I decided to do an activity called “The Tesla Dilemma”. As a part of the activity students needed to list the people involved in accident from least guilty to most guilty on their own, then in small groups, and finally come up with a list unanimously as a class.
One personal takeaway from this activity:
The higher was an age group, the more difficult was to come to a common ground. As we grow old our beliefs and opinions solidify and become more fixed, making it nearly impossible to change our minds. I think one of the key values we, as adults, should preach to our students and practice ourselves is maintaining the flexibility of mind. For it makes humans more adaptable, more inclined to develop and expand their knowledge.
