Splash, Smile, Repeat – Swimming Lessons (Years 2–3).
Our Year 2 and 3 students have been busy making waves during their external PE swimming lessons — and let’s just say… there’s been more splashing than expected (in the best way
).
Taking PE beyond the school walls, the children head to the pool to build confidence in the water while having a lot of fun along the way. From careful first steps in the shallow end to proud “look what I can do!” moments, every session brings progress.
What are they learning?
Behind all the giggles and splashes, some serious skills are growing:
- Water confidence – feeling safe and relaxed in the pool
- Basic swimming techniques – kicking, floating, and early strokes
- Listening and safety awareness – following pool rules and instructions
- Independence – trying new things and trusting themselves

And yes… also mastering the art of accidental splash attacks ![]()

Why swimming matters
Swimming is not just another PE activity — it’s a life skill. Learning to swim helps children:
- Stay safe in and around water
- Build strength and coordination
- Grow in confidence and resilience
- Enjoy a healthy, active lifestyle
Most importantly, it shows them that learning something new can be exciting (even if it starts with tiny steps… or tiny splashes).
We are so proud of how bravely the children are trying, improving, and supporting each other every session.
More splashes coming soon!
