Welcoming the Year of the Horse
The Environmental Club once again celebrated the Chinese New Year, as we do every year. This time we welcomed the Year of the Horse.
Together, we explored the history of this important celebration and learned about the well-known legend of the animals called The Great Race, which explains how the years in the Chinese zodiac were named. We also discovered interesting facts about firecrackers and learned that Chinese people were the first to invent gunpowder. Did you know that people originally used bamboo sticks to create loud explosions? We certainly didn’t!
People born in the Year of the Horse are believed to be intelligent, energetic, imaginative, friendly, wise, honest, loyal, and compassionate—such wonderful personal traits!
In our Environmental Club, the children incorporated the symbol of the horse into their artwork and painted incredibly beautiful Chinese-inspired illustrations.
Happy Year of the Horse to everyone!
