Another Visit to the Local Dog Shelter with the Pet Club Students

The students of the Pet Club had the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in our community with a recent visit to the local dog shelter in Karlova Ves.  The excitement was palpable as the students prepared to meet the furry residents of the shelter, many of whom are waiting for their forever homes.

In the weeks leading up to the trip, the Pet Club members were buzzing with excitement, not only because they would be spending time with adorable dogs but also because they were learning about animal welfare, responsible pet ownership, and how shelters operate.

When we arrived at the shelter, we were welcomed by the friendly staff. The shelter is clean, and the animals seem well cared for, though the staff reminded us that it’s often challenging to maintain this level of care without enough resources.

The students were introduced to several dogs. According to the number of adults we were given six dogs and went on walking the dogs in the nearby forest. We were two teachers and four parents joined us to help. We usually do a one hour loop in the forest walking towards the gazebo and back to the shelter.

The entire trip was about building connections and realizing the importance of providing love and care to animals in need. The students gained a deeper understanding of why adoption is so important, not only for the dogs but also for the families who get to experience the unconditional love of a pet.

The trip not only allowed the students to make a difference in the lives of animals but also helped foster a deeper appreciation for the responsibilities that come with owning and caring for pets.

We look forward to more visits like this in the future – and who knows, maybe the next dog we meet will find its perfect family, thanks to the Pet Club’s efforts!
