Mastering German Articles: A Fun and Memorable Technique for MYP4 Students

One of the biggest challenges for every German student is mastering the articles: DER, DIE, and DAS. In our unit on furniture and household items, I introduced a technique to my MYP4 students to help them remember the appropriate articles. We created a story featuring a man and a woman. All objects that belonged to the woman had the article DIE, those that belonged to the man had the article DER, and since the woman moved in with the man, they also had shared objects that had the article DAS.

To make this technique even more effective, MYP4 students Adelka, Anička, and Sviat visualized the story, which further reinforced their memory. And, of course, we had a lot of fun and laughter along the way.
