Celebrating Diwali: A Festival of Lights and Unity
Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, is one of the most widely celebrated holidays in India and across the globe. Rooted in ancient traditions, Diwali marks the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil.
This five-day celebration is filled with vibrant customs: homes are adorned with oil lamps (diyas), colorful rangoli designs are created at entrances, and fireworks light up the night sky. Families come together to share delicious sweets, exchange gifts, and offer prayers for prosperity and happiness. For many, Diwali is also a time for reflection, renewal, and togetherness.
Though originating from Hindu traditions, Diwali is embraced by people from diverse backgrounds and faiths, making it a symbol of inclusivity and community. No matter where you’re from, Diwali’s message of hope and positivity is universal.
We invite you to join in the Diwali spirit by learning about its rich history and participating in the festivities. Whether it’s lighting a candle, enjoying traditional sweets, or spreading joy within your community, Diwali is an opportunity for all of us to celebrate unity and light. Happy Diwali!
Although Dwali is officially celebrated during Fall Break, we’re happy to celebrate it at school the 1st week of Nov. With a big Celebration on Fri 8 Nov.
