A Spooktacular Halloween in Year 1! 🎃👻
Halloween brought lots of fun, laughter and spooky surprises to our Year 1 EAL lessons!
As part of our EAL program, the children had a wonderful opportunity to practice their English in a fun and engaging Halloween setting. We started with a Peppa Pig Halloween quiz, where the children listened carefully to the story and tried to answer the questions. They enjoyed following the funny situations and discovering what happened next. There were plenty of smiles and giggles as they listened, thought about the answers and shared their ideas.
Our Halloween activities also gave the children a chance to practice and build their English vocabulary. They counted spooky objects, including skulls, bats, black cats and other Halloween characters, while developing their number skills and learning to recognize and use new words. Through different games, they practiced listening, speaking and responding to simple instructions in English.
Of course, no Halloween celebration would be complete without a few spooky stories! We enjoyed reading Halloween books aloud, looking at the pictures, talking about the characters and discovering what was happening in each story. These activities encouraged the children to listen, use their imagination and become more confident in understanding English.
It was lovely to see the children so involved in the activities, learning new words without even realisxng how much English they were practic ing. Our Year 1 EAL Halloween celebration was full of curiosity, creativity and fun — a perfect way to bring a little Halloween magic into our English lessons! 🦇🕷️🎃
