Festive Baking in our Cooking Club ππͺ
What really brings the Christmas spirit to life, besides the tree and carols? Of course, the smell of freshly baked cookies!
Today, our Cooking Club members baked delicious cookies filled with raspberry jam. The dough was crumbly and tasty, and the children couldnβt wait for the cookies to cool.
Letβs start from the beginning: first, we washed our hands β the number one rule of Cooking Club β and then got straight to the dough. Working with it felt like playing with playdough! The only tricky part was that our dough was just as sticky, so it didnβt want to separate from the board. A little flour solved the problem, and although it wasnβt snowing outside today, our counter looked like a winter wonderland. π
The recipe said to roll the dough to 3mm, but sometimes it was 2mm, and sometimes 6mm. Thatβs okay β baking is all about time, practice, and a few helpful tricks. By the second batch, the students rolled the dough themselves, and it was amazing to see their skills improving. Their cookie shapes became neater and smoother, and I loved seeing how proud they were of their creations.
Once the cookies were in the oven, we all watched through the window, marveling at the little transformation. Everyone was checking on their own cookie: βLook, thereβs my star!β or βAnd thereβs my little Christmas tree!β Each cookie seemed to have its own name tag, and nobody wanted to eat someone elseβs masterpiece.
Finally, the best part of Cooking Club arrived β the tasting! All the chatter quieted down, and suddenly there was silence. What was happening? The children were enjoying their well-deserved reward. π
Our cookies turned out beautifully today, and Iβm sure your Christmas baking will be just as delightful. Enjoy!
