๐Ÿ“Š Year 2 Data Detectives at EISB!

Today our little learners became Data Detectives! ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ

As part of their Maths inquiry into the unit Healthy Choices, Year 2 designed and carried out their very own surveys. They confidently approached teachers across the school and asked thoughtful questions like:

  • What is your favourite fruit? ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿฅญ

  • Do you prefer pets like cats or dogs? ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑ

  • Which vegetables do you like best? ๐Ÿฅฆ๐Ÿฅ•

  • What is your favourite source of protein? ๐Ÿณ๐Ÿฅฉ

  • What colours make you happy? ๐ŸŽจ

The children recorded each response with a โ€œtick tickโ€ tally mark, counted the totals, and then organised their findings into tables and pictograms.

It was inspiring to watch how our young mathematicians are learning to:
โœ” ask clear questions
โœ” collect and count data accurately
โœ” represent information visually
โœ” make healthy and thoughtful choices using numbers

This hands-on experience connected Maths, inquiry skills, and wellbeing, making learning both fun and meaningful. ๐ŸŒŸ

We are so proud of our Year 2 inquirers who are discovering how numbers and data can help us make better choices every day. ๐Ÿ’ก
