ChatMr.KnowItAll

Although it was made public only a couple of months ago, ChatGPT already has over 100 million active users (Hu, 2023). By now, if you haven’t heard about it, then you’re pretty behind! It truly is an amazing tool, for learning (and teaching). For example, this AI chatbot can write a a 500-word essay in under a minute… for free! It’s even integrated into your Discord. But, of course, we run into the problem of mis-using it.

Maybe some students might think it’d be a good idea to use it in doing their assignments. Well, that would still count as plagiarism, or cheating.

So, should it be banned at school? No way! In my opinion, this is another advancement in technology that we need to work with. Try it out. The more I use it, the more it impresses me. Here’s a quick example: I’ve asked “it” to write a haiku about plagiarism and then a professional ending paragraph. Enjoy!

In conclusion, ChatGPT is an important and relevant issue that affects us all. By understanding its implications in academics, we can improve our learning and teaching methods. I hope this blog post has provided valuable insights and information, and has sparked thought and conversation. As always, I welcome any feedback or questions you may have. Let’s continue the conversation and work together towards a better academic community.
