Open House: Mathematics, Technology and Learning

Spread the love

Our recent Open House was a wonderful opportunity to bring students, parents, and teachers together and celebrate the learning taking place across our school.

One of the highlights was the opportunity to explore different areas of academic learning through engaging presentations. In Mathematics, Immre introduced students and visitors to Gaussian elimination, a powerful method used to solve systems of linear equations. The presentation provided an opportunity to see how mathematical ideas can be approached logically and systematically, while also highlighting how techniques learned in the classroom connect to wider applications in mathematics and technology.

There was also an engaging presentation on Generative Artificial Intelligence in Computer Science presented by Imre Schlosser, exploring how modern AI systems can generate text, images, code, and other forms of content. The session encouraged students to think about both the possibilities and responsibilities that come with using this rapidly developing technology.

What made the experience particularly enjoyable was the balance between learning and interaction. The presentations were educational, but they also created opportunities for questions, discussion, curiosity, and discovery.

As a Mathematics teacher, it was especially rewarding to see how mathematics and computer science can complement one another. From solving equations using Gaussian elimination to understanding how generative AI is changing the way we work with information and technology, students were able to see that learning extends well beyond individual subjects.

Overall, Open House was both fun and educational, providing a valuable opportunity for our school community to learn together, share ideas, and celebrate the curiosity and creativity of our students.
