Year 11 – Understanding a City, Understanding the World
The Year 11 Individuals and Societies students at the EISB are truly living up to the school’s mission of understanding our planet and forming conscious citizens with an international mindset through their deep dive into urban sustainability. They’re not just reading about global issues; they are actively working with real-world data to pinpoint areas where Bratislava can most effectively improve its sustainability, from reducing heating emissions in buildings and managing waste, to boosting public transport use.
To inform their work, they are taking case studies from sustainable cities around the world, examining how pioneers like Copenhagen and Curitiba have succeeded, and then adapting those best practices into concrete, data-driven recommendations for a greener, more resilient Bratislava. This project perfectly melds local action with global perspective, positioning the students as future leaders in sustainable urban development.
