Today, the Y 12th students celebrated the New School Year
This New School Year is special for our students. They will begin studying DP and AP subjects at the Standard or High level in order to successfully pass their final exams and enter universities.
The morning of September 1st began with a class hour, which we decided to hold outside. The program was busy: greeting each other in an unusual way, seeing off the Old School Year, welcoming the New School Year…
Today, four new students became members of our class: Luke, Joseph, Jiahe, Jinwoo. After we all greeted each other, we introduced ourselves and told something unusual about themselves. A former student of our class, and now a student at the University of Prague, Faculty of Medicine, Mykhailo, also came to our lesson. He stayed with us the whole day, actively participating in all our activities.

After that, each student received a balloon to fill it with all the negativity left over from the previous school year. When all our fears, worries, stresses, tears flowed into the balloons, we said goodbye to them and the Old School Year with relief and pleasure.

Since today we were celebrating the New School Year, we also had an unusual New Year Tree with unusual decorations in the form of pictures with motivating phrases – indicators that tell students what they should pay attention to in the coming year. Each student, blindfolded, chose one of the pictures by touch, read it out loud and explained what he/she should pay attention to. In 90% of cases, the text of the motivator coincided with the student’s problem.

We didn’t forget about our new wishes. Each student wrote their wish or expectation for the new school year on a separate piece of paper. All notes were placed in a special jar and sealed with the right to open at the end of June 2026.

This is how our first lesson on September 1st went.
