Working on Vowel Digraphs with Year 1

For the past month, the Year 1 class has been diving into the world of vowel digraphs,  A vowel digraph is a pair of vowels that together produce a single sound. Unlike individual vowels, which have their own unique sounds, vowel digraphs blend to create a new sound. These combinations are common in the English language and are crucial for young readers to master. Understanding these combinations helps children read more fluently and accurately

One of the favorite activities among the children involved standing up and holding up letters to spell out words containing vowel digraphs. This interactive approach not only made learning fun but also helped reinforce their understanding of these essential phonics concepts.
