Magical Music of Mozart

The Year 5 and 6 students recently spent part of a beautiful early spring afternoon at the birthplace of the world famous wunderkind (wonderkid) Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in Salzburg, Austria. We have spent much of our class time over the past two months learning about the life and work of this most talented musician and composer. The students were able to see the room where he was born and closely examine some physical artifacts from his life such as his first violin, his harpsichord and locks of his hair.
This was part of a larger overnight trip, led by Ms. Erika, Mr. Jim, Mr. Eley and Mr. Roman, that combined music and history into one educational opportunity. Besides Mozart’s Birthplace, the students were also able to see several spots around the city made famous by the film “The Sound of Music”, including the gardens at Mirabell Palace, the lakeside terrace at Schloss Leopoldskron and the gazebo at Hellbrun Palace.
Overall, it was a fun trip that struck the right “chord” for everyone involved.
