Free Online University Classes (Good for CV Building)
I have been meeting with many students recently to discuss university options. Although most of our students here have solid grades, many have been asking me about different ways they can boost their CV in ways related to the field they want to pursue.
There are many things students can do to boost their CV’s, such as:
- Volunteering (can be in or out of school)
- Extra-curricular activities
- Work experience placements/ internships
- Coaching
- Tutoring
- Build your online skills (e.g., Excel, coding, etc)
- Student council, yearbook team, etc.
- Take on a leading role in a society or club
- Write your own blog related to your field(s) of interest
- Take a free online university course related to the field you want to pursue
I would like to share a bit more about the last point: taking online university courses related to the field you want to pursue.

Having a university level course/class on a high school student’s CV can help them stand out among other candidates and show the university that they are applying to that they are serious about the subject they are pursuing. It can also be a very interesting learning experience and a great way to get inspired 🙂
