Year 2 Spanish Highlights
This term in Year 2 Spanish, we focused on learning about fruits, expressing likes and dislikes, body parts, basic organs, and family members.
We celebrated our fruit vocabulary by opening a fruit shop in the classroom. The children enjoyed shopping for fruit and then used their purchases to make a delicious fruit salad. It was a fun and practical way to use their new Spanish vocabulary.
Learning about the human body was an especially exciting topic. We began with the Spanish version of the song Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes and learned the names of different body parts. The children were fascinated by the realistic plastic organ models that helped them understand how the body works.
The highlight of the unit was our role-play activity, Operation- Reverse Autopsy. Dressed as doctors with medical headbands, the children introduced themselves to their medical team in Spanish and shared a few facts about themselves. They examined sample X-rays, discussed their observations, and then carefully placed the organs back into a body made from transparent foil. The activity was both educational and engaging, and the children were amazed by the experience. As skilled doctors, they completed operation reports by drawing and recording their findings, showing just how much they had learned.
We are now completing our final unit by learning about family members in a fun and interactive way.
