From Shopping to Chopping!
,From Shopping to Chopping! 🍎🔪
The lower primary Spanish students are learning all about fruits and useful phrases such as “Me gusta” and “No me gusta” (I like / I don’t like). We practiced this topic vocabulary for some time and then brought it to life by role-playing a real shop.
We created our own little fruit market in the classroom. The students came shopping and asked for the fruits they wanted from the vendedor/a (shop assistant), using the Spanish vocabulary and phrases they had learned. This highly interactive game gave them a realistic feeling of shopping in a real market while naturally using the Spanish language in meaningful everyday situations.
After shopping, the fun continued as the children chopped their chosen fruits into small pieces and added them to one big bowl. Everyone had a chance to mix the fruit salad together. While adding and tasting the fruits, we repeated the learned vocabulary and phrases many more times.
The children really enjoyed this realistic and interactive activity — and of course, they loved eating the delicious fruit salad too! 🍓🍌🍊
