You May Say I Am a Dreamer… (Part 2)
As promised, here is the follow-up to our dream catcher project, showcasing the incredible creativity and confidence our Year 4 students displayed. Below, you’ll find photos of the students presenting their dreams—original stories they wrote—in front of Preschool, Year 1, and Year 2 students. We’ve also included two videos capturing their storytelling in action.
In addition to their storytelling, the students added an improvisation routine at the beginning and end of their presentations to entertain their audience. These creative routines, filled with playful movements and humor, set the stage for the stories and left the younger students with smiles on their faces.
What stood out most was their teamwork and quick thinking. During one of the sessions, a student wasn’t ready when it was his turn to present. Without missing a beat, his classmates picked up on the moment and spontaneously performed a “half-time show” improvisation. Their quick thinking and collaboration ensured that the audience was none the wiser, and the transition was seamless. It was a wonderful example of teamwork and adaptability in action!
Throughout this process, the students embraced the art of speaking in front of a crowd. They practiced using the correct tone of voice, reading fluently, making eye contact, and adding expression to keep their audience engaged. To prepare, the class practiced storytelling techniques together, experimenting with pacing, gestures, and vocal variety. They also honed their ability to give positive feedback by sharing suggestions to help each other improve.
The result? A storytelling experience that delighted and captivated their younger peers. From laughter to wide-eyed wonder, the audience was fully engaged, and our Year 4 storytellers left with a newfound confidence in their ability to speak, perform, and connect with others.
Enjoy the photos and videos of these proud and talented storytellers in action!
