Was appeasement the right policy?
The appeasement policy was a diplomatic approach adopted mainly by Britain and France in the 1930s, in which they tried to avoid conflict by yielding to some of the demands of aggressive nations, particularly Nazi Germany. The goal was to maintain peace and stability in Europe, but in practice, it often encouraged further aggression and territorial expansion, ultimately failing to prevent World War II.
In this task, students were asked to create a poster that either supports or opposes appeasement as the right policy for Britain and France in the 1930s. The poster was intended to persuade the public of the 1930s that their viewpoint was correct, using quotations, evidence, dates, and detailed examples to support their argument.
