Personal Project Showcase
Today, February 20, was a truly special day as our students proudly presented their Personal Projects—an inspiring journey of curiosity, creativity, and hard work. As part of the IB MYP framework, this project allows students to explore a topic that is meaningful to them, develop essential skills, and create something uniquely their own. And today, their enthusiasm and dedication shined through in every presentation.
Walking around the showcase, it was impossible not to feel moved by the diversity and depth of the projects. Each one reflected the students’ passions, personal experiences, and desire to share something meaningful with the world. One student, inspired by her late dog who suffered from pancreatitis, created a beautifully crafted recipe book for dogs with dietary restrictions—filled with well-researched guidance and heartfelt care. Another student, passionate about his Ukrainian heritage, compiled a recipe book with traditional dishes, complete with historical context and fun facts that brought the culture to life.
Creativity and innovation were at the heart of many projects. A student with a love for robotics designed an introductory course to help new members of the school’s robotics club get started—a gift to future students who share his passion for engineering. Another student, fascinated by the ocean, created a hand-illustrated encyclopedia of sharks, while a different student combined his love for storytelling and art to produce a documentary filled with his own stunning illustrations. One student even launched a YouTube channel, putting his media skills to the test while learning how to create engaging content for a global audience.
The energy in the room was contagious. Students beamed with pride as they explained their work, answered questions, and shared their creative processes. For many, this was more than just a school project—it was a chance to express themselves, explore their interests, and prove to themselves just how capable they are. Seeing their confidence grow as they presented their work was an incredible reminder of why we, as educators, do what we do.
Today’s showcase was more than just an academic milestone; it was a celebration of our students’ unique talents, hard work, and resilience. Watching them proudly share their creations reminded me how powerful it is to give young minds the freedom to explore, create, and challenge themselves. I could not be prouder of them, and I cannot wait to see where their curiosity and dedication take them next.
