Are you a new EISB Student? Our Buddies Will Be There for You!
Starting at a new school can be both exciting and overwhelming, especially for students who are still developing their English skills. To ensure a smooth transition, EISB has introduced the Buddy Program, a student-led initiative designed to support newcomers. This program not only helps new students integrate into the school community but also fosters leadership, empathy, and social responsibility among existing students.
How It Works
Each class will have designated representatives who will support new students during their first days, focusing on social, emotional, academic, and language aspects. This ensures that the transition to EISB is positive and that new students feel comfortable and confident in their new environment. Since some students may face challenges with English, buddies are selected not only for their leadership and social skills but also for their ability to communicate in multiple languages, ensuring better support for newcomers.
Buddy Responsibilities
Buddies play a vital role in supporting new students during their first month at EISB. Their key responsibilities include:
- Helping new students navigate daily routines and school rules.
- Introducing them to key locations such as classrooms, the cafeteria, and the library.
- Providing social support and acting as a bridge between new students and teachers.
- Ensuring the new student feels welcomed and included.
Buddies will have a designated space in their home classroom with a checklist of daily and weekly tasks to complete with their assigned student. This structured approach ensures consistency in the support provided. To make them easily identifiable, buddies will wear a special badge on the first day of school, signaling their role to the community.
What to Do If You Are a New EISB Student
Starting at a new school can be a big step, but with the Buddy Program, you’ll have the support you need from day one! Here’s what you should do to make your transition as smooth as possible:
- Come prepared – Bring everything you need for your first day, including school supplies, a positive attitude, and an open mind.
- Find your buddy – On your first day, look for the student assigned as your buddy. They will be easy to identify because they will be wearing a special badge.
- Ask for help – Your buddy is there to guide you! Don’t hesitate to ask them about the school, your schedule, or anything else you may need.
- Explore your new school – Your buddy will show you important places like your classroom, the cafeteria, and the library.
- Join in! – Get involved in class, make new friends, and enjoy your time at EISB. Your buddy and teachers are here to support you every step of the way.
Buddy System Logo
The Buddy System has an official logo representing support, collaboration, and inclusion. This logo will be featured on badges, checklists, and other program materials to create a cohesive and recognizable identity.

But why an astronaut? When you join EISB, you embark on a new adventure—just like exploring a new universe! That’s why our buddies are represented as astronauts, guiding you through this exciting journey and helping you navigate your new school experience.
