Growing with Year 2

Today, our Year 2 students embarked on an exciting end-of-unit project that ties into our transdisciplinary theme of “Sharing the Planet.” As part of their inquiry into water usage, the students created charming grass heads using tights, soil, grass seeds, and googly eyes for decoration.

The project was both fun and educational. Each student carefully filled their tights with soil and grass seeds, then added a touch of personality with googly eyes. The result was a classroom full of quirky and adorable grass heads, each unique to its creator.

Beyond the crafting, this project serves a larger purpose in teaching the students about the importance of water conservation. They will be responsible for looking after their grass heads, ensuring they use the correct amount of water to help them thrive. Through this hands-on experience, the children will learn about the needs of living things and the impact of water usage on plant life.

We are thrilled to see our students engaging with such a meaningful and enjoyable project, and we look forward to watching their grass heads grow and flourish under their careful care.
