Paper-mache ice cream
The paper-mache technique is one of the coolest techniques for our younger academy students, as this skill is fun, a bit messy, and has lots of potential for creating essentially anything.
Last years MYP1 was tasked with creating ice cream cones, as a part of our building and sculpting unit, where the students try many various techniques of building objects as artworks. At the end, there’s a big group project, where all these skills get utilised.
These paper-mache works later get a coat of glossy spray, so the finish is shiny, and the artwork is protected. With a bit of newspaper, glue, water, and paper tape, anyone can create countless artworks, to portray something amazing, essentially out of nothing, which I think is very cool.
