Theme Week: Danubiana

“The Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum, one of the most romantic museums of modern art in Europe, is situated 20 kilometers south of Bratislava, the capital of the Slovak Republic. It was founded by Gerard Meulensteen of Eindhoven, a Dutch collector and art patron, and Vincent Polakovič, a Slovak gallerist.“

During the school’s theme week from the 13th to the 17th of March, when visiting Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum, the students were tasked with analyzing an artwork of their choice according to a set of criteria provided. The objective was to encourage critical thinking, creative and analytical skills, and to engage with the artwork in a deeper way. The students explored the museum, chose an artwork, described, analyzed, interpreted, and judged its artistic value. Overall, this event provided the students with an enriching and educational experience that will increase their understanding and appreciation of art.

THE TASK

During this visit, our students’ main task was to analyze an artwork of their choosing according to the criteria.

They form a solid foundation on which we can proudly and enthusiastically continue to build our collection.”

“Danubiana’s permanent collection of modern art is also complemented by exceptional and unique works of painters, sculptors, and photographers that have been loaned them to the museum. Collections give all fans of visual arts a broader perception of art and present a balanced view of various styles, tendencies, and differences between individual art schools, forms of creation and creativity, and artistic approaches to art.“
