2019 Winter Clubs

Below is a list of the clubs that are offered for EISB students this fall.  Students can be registered for each of the clubs on Edupage or by clicking the REGISTER button below. If for some reason, you or your child do not have access to Edupage, please contact us immediately to get you set up.

If you would like private lessons for your child, or clubs that are not offered, please contact the office and let us know.

Robotics I
When: Monday 3.15 – 4.15For whom: Years 1-4Activity: An introductory course in which children learn the basics of design including: motion sensors or servos. The students learn to assemble simple block-based robots, and study the basic principles of visual programming.
Robotics II
When: Monday 3.15 – 4.15

For whom: Years 4-8

Activity: Robotic assembly, learning software and hardware components of the robots. Students independently edit the standard program code and burn the program into the processor module. Competitions are held between the teams. The best team is usually nominated to participate in exhibitions or international competitions.

Robotics III
When: Tuesday 3.00 – 4.00

For whom: Years 7-13

Activity: Students design their own robots to solve certain tasks. This level requires certain knowledge of physics, informatics and mathematics

Title:  Singing

When: Thursday 15.15 – 16.15 pm

For Whom: ALL

Description:  From a Director of professional productions such as Superstar Slovakia, students have the opportunity to not only develop incredible voices, but learn how to and get an opportunity to perform.

Title:  Lower Primary Choir
When:  Tuesday, 15.00-16.00
For Whom:  Year 1 and Year 2
Description:  An introductory course for the development of young voices.

 

Title:  Badminton

When: Tuesday 3.15 – 4.15pm

For Whom: Y4 – 10 boys and girls

Description:  Children will learn to develop basic football skills through games, competitions and activities. Maximum of 25 children.

 

Title: Capoeira

When: Tuesday, Thursday 3.30 – 4.30

Trainer : Graduado Terere

Description: Besides being fun and eye-catching, Capoeira is a very efficient tool in child’s development. Capoeira helps develop balance, coordination, general level of fitness and flexibility, sense of rhythm and awareness of your own body. Whether your child loves dance, martial arts, games, sports, or music, they can explore all these and more with capoeira.

Fee: 5 Eur per training

 

Title: Entrepreneur’s Club

When:   Day/Time  1500-1600 Thursday (secondary building room C2) we will also collaborate online.

For Whom: Secondary – advanced Y5/6 welcome

Description: What is an entrepreneur; what does it take to become one; how can we take positive action as people with an entrepreneurial spirit – start a business; start a non-profit organisation (charity) – make a difference.  Learners will have the chance to undertake a process of turning an idea into reality in thirty days.

 

Title: Movie Club

For Whom: Secondary

When: Thursday

The club will look at classic movies and documentaries. After the movie, we will discuss the scenes from a social context and how it applies to us in today’s society.

Title: Rock Band

When: Wednesday 3.15 – 4.15 pm

For Whom: Any

Description:  students will work with Daniel Kuciak in performing as a rock band/bands.

Cost:  30 e / lesson / group

Title: Basketball / Streetball

When: Wednesday 15:00 – 16:00

For Whom: Y7-Y11

Description: Students will learn the basketball skills, correct technique of shooting and dribbling, game strategy and more importantly communication and teamwork. Club is open to 12 students and will be held on the Streetball Court in Park Jama. Club will not be run in winter time or rainy weather.

 

Title : Newspaper gang
When: Wednesday – break 10:10 – 10:40 & Social break 12:20 – 12:50.
For Whom: Y7 – Y13
Description: We will learn how to write a newspaper, instigate,  make interviews, collaborate. The final result will be the school newspaper. The money we get from selling the newspaper can either be used to get supplies for our club or will go to a charity.
Where: the ICT room in the secondary building.

 

Title: Student Council

When:   Wednesday (start date to be announced)

Description:   Student Council is where we, as young people, can make a real difference in our school and community. Join us to have your say and take your part in leading the school. SC is an excellent opportunity to develop as a leader in a safe and supportive atmosphere

Description: We would be reading world famous literature pieces, discuss them and the authors.

 

Title: Chinese Language and Culture Club

Description: We will explore different aspects of Chinese culture and learn some language along the way.

Description: Learn to make fantastic origami shapes

 

Title: Russian Language and Culture Club

Description: We will explore different aspects of Russian culture and learn some language along the way.

Description: Starting with simple yoga practices, we’ll gradually learn to master more of this gentle health form.

Description: We will learn the basics of chess and arrange games and tournaments with each other and maybe more.

Title: Primary Drama Club

When: Wednesday 3:15 – 4:45 pm

For Whom: Y3 – Y6

Description: There is no doubt that the stage is liked by many of us. It is not only the lovely costumes and props or the roles that help to build self-confidence of the performers. Both the actors and the audience benefit from any stage production. We will start with some short skits that require minimal preparation with the focus on stage voice, use of gestures and miming. Improvisation as a form of a live theatre would be another skill to introduce. Overall, our goal is to make a production of two plays this school year – depending on the number and age of our young actors.

 

Title : Knitting

When: Tuesday (and/or Thursday)

For Whom: Y3 – Y6

Description: Learn the basics of knitting – yarn weight/size, needles, fiber types, casting on, knit and purl stitches, increasing, decreasing, and casting off.  Make a scarf, washcloth, pencil case, hat or even socks! Limit of 5 students for this first session. Students will need to purchase and bring requested knitting needles and yarn. Patience and resilience are a must!

Description: Play games and use manipulatives to practice math skills.

Description: :  Step by step instruction of drawing, inking Japanese anime (cartoon comics). Similar styles- Ghilbi Studios, Dragonball Z. Students create their own

Description:  Back by popular demand, Floriniti Floral Club will celebrate seasons and holidays creating artful floral and fine gift arrangements.

 

Title: Learning Centre

When:  Every day – Monday – Friday 1500-1600

Description: Not ready to go home, need to do your home assignments in a quiet place?  Like to do some reading quietly where no-one bothers you?  Come to learning centre where you can have some time and space to learn on your own – or with a friend or teacher to help.

 

Paper Modelers’ Club

Journey around the World

Geography Club

When:  Tuesday 3.15 – 4.00
For Whom:  Year 1-3

Details:  Explore our world.  Learn about places, natural and historical landmarks, and interesting locations.

 

Title:  PC club

When: Friday  3.15 – 4 pm

For Whom: Y1 – Y5  

Description:  Children will learn about IT technologies, work with PC, MS Office and basics of programming. Especially internet security, cyberbullying prevention.

Maximum of 15 children.
Cost:  99 Euro / 15 lessons

 

Title:  Science club

When: Monday  3.15 – 4 pm

For Whom: Y1 – Y5  

Description:  Children will learn  how to practise science experiments and broaden their range of experiences and interests about science.

Maximum of 10 children
Cost:  88 Euro / 15 lessons
