Poetry Through ICT
During our ICT lesson, we combined technology with our current poetry unit to create a meaningful and creative learning experience. Instead of starting in the classroom, students went outside to observe their surroundings and connect with their senses.

Each student used a small whiteboard to note short ideas under the prompts “I see,” “I feel,” “I hear,” and “I like.” This helped them focus on observation, emotions, and personal responses, which are key elements of poetry.

After returning to the classroom, students moved to their computers and used their notes to create a short poem. They then combined their writing with ICT skills by designing a simple presentation to showcase their poems. Students worked independently, choosing fonts, layouts, and visuals that reflected the mood of their writing.

This activity encouraged creativity, reflection, and digital literacy while allowing students to experience poetry in an active and engaging way. By linking outdoor observation with technology, students were able to see that poetry can be inspired by everyday experiences and expressed through multiple forms.
