Year 9: Learning Chemistry Through Play

In Year 9 Chemistry, students have successfully completed the atomic structure unit. To conclude the topic, they took part in a hands-on puzzle game where they combined ions to model how ionic compounds are formed and practiced writing correct chemical formulae.

The activity also helped students see the connection between chemistry and simple mathematical thinking, as they balanced positive and negative charges to form neutral compounds. This game is always a great success—students had fun while learning, collaborating, and confidently applying their knowledge at the same time.

Next project will be a deep dive into isotopes and their amazing applications in real life…
