The Alphabet a Little Differently

Learning the alphabet doesn’t have to be boring! In Year 2, we decided to explore the alphabet in a fun and creative way — through music, games, and teamwork.

We began our lesson by listening to a catchy Alphabet Song (this one).
The cheerful melody immediately caught the students’ attention. They naturally learning the order of the letters.
Music helped create a positive and playful atmosphere and made the learning feel effortless.

Next, we moved on to hands-on learning using alphabet cards.
Each card had a letter with a matching picture.

In small groups, students:

  • arranged the cards in alphabetical order.

The classroom was full of energy, laughter, and friendly discussions about what comes after L or before S.
What could have been a simple memorization task turned into a fun exploration.

Then each child got one letter, and their task was to walk around the classroom, write down a classmate’s name in one line, and the letter they had in the other.

It was wonderful to see even the quieter students actively taking part and enjoying every moment.
