New Role, New Energy: My Plans as a DP Coordinator

This school year begins with a new and very exciting chapter for me—I have stepped into the role of Diploma Programme (DP) Coordinator. I spent the whole summer looking forward to this moment, and I am truly thrilled to begin.

Taking on this position feels like the perfect fit for me. It requires strong organizational and time management skills, clear communication, and the ability to connect teachers, students, the school, and the IB organization itself.

The DP is a rigorous and demanding two-year programme that challenges students not only academically, but also in personal growth, balance, and resilience. It asks a lot from our young learners—time management, critical thinking, and perseverance—but it also gives back enormously. The skills and knowledge students gain extend far beyond school, preparing them for university and for life.

This year, I have many initiatives planned. I will focus on supporting students in understanding subject choices, IB rules, examinations, and importance of time management. I have created a calendar to help everyone stay on track and organized. I want to strengthen our preparation for exams and improve our school-wide approach to deadlines and accountability. Teachers, too, will be supported through professional development opportunities and regular collaborative meetings where we can discuss student successes and challenges together, and share experiences and important information, so all are on the same page and aware of everything upcoming.

I am also excited that our school is expanding its DP subject offerings this year, with new languages such as Japanese, Korean, and French, new science subject – sports, exercises and health sience (SEHS) – and Literature and performance.

To make sure every student feels supported, I am planning one-to-one meetings, as well as launching a support club for all Year 12 and 13 students. Communication at every level—between students, teachers, and families—will be a priority, so that everyone feels informed and empowered.

I am deeply honored to take on this role. With enthusiasm, fresh ideas, and dedication, I am ready to work with all of you to make this year a successful and inspiring one.

Cheers!
