Exploring emotions through art.

This week, our Year 2 created an exciting art project to kick off our new unit, Who We Are, with a focus on exploring emotions and how they shape us. The project allowed students to creatively express the things that bring them joy and happiness through a unique artistic medium.

We began by tracing the silhouette of each student’s head, which they outlined with bold, black paint to create a striking contrast. Inside the silhouette, students filled the space with drawings of the things that make them feel happy—whether it was family, pets, hobbies, or their favorite places. The next step was adding color and life to their drawings using watercolors, allowing each student’s personality to shine through their work. The vibrant colors reflected the happiness and positivity they experience in their everyday lives.

This project was not only an opportunity for students to improve their artistic skills, but also a way for them to reflect on their emotions and what makes them unique. Through their artwork, they learned more about themselves and shared their joy with others in the classroom. It was a truly wonderful experience seeing their creativity flourish. See if you can guess who is who!
